Meet the Team
Arthur is a 15 time Australian Ironman Triathlete who has also competed in the Asia Pacific Championships in Melbourne and World Championship Ironman in Kona, Hawaii. It is through his passion for this sport that sparked a desire to open up a bike store. Arthur wanted to own a store that is unique, female friendly & have a product that was world renowned for its range & quality - this is why Specialized was selected as our preferred supplier.
Arthur believes that one of the most enjoying parts of running the store is seeing the excitement on the faces of all customers when they are picking up their new bikes.
Arthur loves coming to work everyday as he loves to engage with the people of Ballarat & he aspires to offer the best customer service & loves talking to customers to ensure they are getting the right bike to suit their needs.
Arthur is married to Sharine & they have 3 kids, (Katie, Brandon & Jake), along with 4 dogs & 1 cat.
Phil Orr lives and breathes bicycles and cycling and with his
30 plus years experience in the bicycle industry, his knowledge and mechanical understanding is second to none.
Phil’s experience includes working for many professional cycling teams as a head mechanic.
Phil’s love of bicycles has also included being involved in competitive road events and elite Mountain bike races, but it’s mountain bike racing that is his passion, representing Australia at world XC championship's in the mid 1990's, right up to currently racing Endurance and Marathon XC races, still at the highest level.
Phil is currently the President of the Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club and his clients enjoy his approachable and friendly attitude to their cycling repairs.
Sharine always aspired to own a café which offered simple foods that tasted great, along with serving a coffee blend that was unique to Ballarat.
Before opening Bike Rack Café, Sharine gained experience as a barista managing at a coffee house in central Ballarat. In the café's very small kitchen, Sharine & the staff make a variety of breakfast foods, including bacon & egg toasties & muffins, croissants, fresh yoghurt & cereal, a variety of fresh salads & wraps along with numerous focaccias – all which are dine in or takeaway.
With the café open from 7am to cater for the early risers, Sharine will be there to ensure your coffee is exactly what you need to start your day.
Sharine aspires to offer all her customers good food but better service - you will often see her chatting to both old & new customers ensuring that their experience within the café is a positive one.
Whilst not as passionate about riding than some, Sharine does enjoy getting out on her mountain bike when she can – one of her biggest joys is getting home to her 4 dogs – Sorami, Saki, Rocco & Zeon (All Japanese Spitz).
Sharine & Arthur have been married for 14 years & she loves nothing more than spending Saturday nights at home, cooking up a storm drinking a glass of red wine.
